PGSS was my first exposure to parallel processing via an account at the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center. That remains my most in- depth experience with massively parallel computing, and as the industry continues to move toward multi-core processors, parallelized algorithms are more important than ever — my early experience was very prescient.Further, the experience of being at CMU during PGSS helped me to decide to do my studies there instead of an out-of-state university.
