Joanna’s experience as a member of PGSS class of 1993 consolidated her interest in the sciences. After graduating from East Stroudsburg High School in 1994, she went on to earn her Bachelors degrees in Biology as well as Brain and Cognitive Science from MIT in 1998. She continued her exploration of science during her graduate studies at Johns Hopkins – while there her interests turned to business and after finishing her PhD in Neuroscience, she moved to Chicago to work for McKinsey & Co. She has been a management consultant for the last 20+ years, the majority of it running her own practice working alongside client team members to transform their businesses. She is passionate about continuing to give students access to science education regardless of their means – so that the next generation can have hard work and preparation, and with a little luck and lots of support contribute to propel humanity forward. She continues to reside in the city of Chicago with her spouse, two teenagers and a fluffy dog.
